Watson Lodge is a traditional stone built family home built in 1827. We are a mix of old and modern with many period features still intact throughout the building.
We have several room types available and our double rooms have super-king size beds. All rooms have free WiFi connection and each room has a large 32" flat screen television with Freeview.
Our ground floor room is suitable for guests with restricted mobility and we can arrange hire of mobility scooter.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the paved garden area to the rear of the property which is stocked with unusual plants and flowers and is a sun-trap during the summer.
We are located in a quiet street directly in the town centre close to shops, restaurants, pubs, bus links, train station (opening 7/9/15) and only a 40 minute drive to Edinburgh with buses running every half hour.
Enjoy beautiful walks by the River Tweed and Eildon Hills and the area also offers golf, fishing, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, gym, fitness classes and horse riding. For the less energetic there are shops, craft markets and many places of historical interest. We provide brochures detailing all the local must see sights and all our staff are knowledgable about the local area and happy to advise.
Galashiels has a 4 screen cinema, bingo hall, excellent choice of restaurants and pubs with live music and entertainment.
Yearly events include the Borders Gala Days and equestrian Common Ridings. The Borders Book Festival is held in June 3 miles away in Melrose and attracts famous faces from the world of books and television. The Melrose 7s is held in April and attracts top class teams from around the world. Not forgetting we are only a bus ride away from the world famous three week event that is the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe!
WE ARE OPEN 25 & 26 DECEMBER BUT DO NOT SERVE BREAKFAST OR SERVICE ROOMS ON THESE DATES. SKELETON STAFF ARE ON SITE 24 HOURS EACH DAY.
A warm and friendly Gala welcome awaits!
