Watson Lodge is a traditional stone built family home and was built in 1827 during the reign of King George IV. Many period features can be seen throughout the building - carved cornices, ceiling roses etc.
We have several room types available and our double rooms have super-king size beds. All rooms have free WiFi connection and each room has a large 32 inch flat screen television with Freeview.
The paved garden area to the rear of the property is stocked with many unusual plants and flowers and is a sun-trap during the summer months. Guests are welcome to enjoy their days and evenings relaxing there.
We are located in a quiet street in the town centre close to shops, restaurants, pubs, bus links, train station (opening 7 September 2015) and within a 40 minute drive to Edinburgh with buses running every half hour.
As well as beautiful country walks along the River Tweed or through the Eildon Hills, the area offers golf, fishing, cycling, mountain biking, swimming pool, gym, fitness classes and horse riding. For the less energetic there are shops, craft markets and many places of historical interest. We provide brochures detailing all the local must see sights and all our staff are knowledgable about the local area and happy to advise.
Galashiels has a 4 screen cinema, bingo hall, excellent choice of restaurants and pubs with live music and entertainment.
The Borders towns are passionate about music and drama present excellent musicals, plays and concerts throughout the year.
Yearly events include the Gala Days and equestrian Common Ridings. The Borders Book Festival is held in June 3 miles away in Melrose and attracts famous faces from the world of books and television. The Melrose 7s is held in April and attracts top class teams from around the world. Not forgetting we are only a bus ride away from the world famous three week event this is the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe!
